Blood On The Screen

Dark room with a single bed,
upturned furniture and a cracked mirror.
Wild storm rages outside the
closed windows hid by old curtains.
Broken and pill bottles and half eaten popcorn.
Scattered magazines and scattered clothing.
Hard matting on the floor,
left soaking wet since late night.
A ladies' handbag and a men' s case.
A rosy smell and musky stench,
smoked cigarettes on the glass table top.
Wine bottle and black grapes,
a run down fan turning slow;
an unlit lamp besides a framed photo;
handgun under a white pillow.
The news channel plays on
the TV screen,
while blood stains the screen;
the body lies besides it.
Eagle spread, hole in the head
dried blood on the face,
trickling down to the ground.
The eyes stare blank at the screen
